The Finish Makes the Pool

Your pool's surface finish determines how the water looks, how it feels underfoot, and how long it lasts before needing attention. Cemcrete is South Africa's leading pool finish manufacturer, with products designed specifically for our climate, water chemistry, and pool construction methods.

Whether you are building a new pool, replastering an aging one, or simply refreshing the look with paint, Cemcrete has the right product. Their range spans from standard PoolCrete plaster through to premium pebble finishes that look stunning and outlast conventional surfaces.

At Ridd's, we stock Cemcrete products and provide honest advice on which option suits your pool and budget. We will tell you when paint is enough, when you need to replaster, and when a pebble upgrade makes financial sense. No hard sell, just practical guidance.

Cemcrete FAQ

How do I know when my pool needs replastering?

Common signs: rough texture that snags swimsuits or scrapes skin, visible cracks or delamination, staining that chemical treatment cannot remove, or plaster that crumbles when you rub it. Most pool plaster lasts 8 to 12 years. If yours is older than that and showing these signs, it is time.

What is the difference between pool plaster and pebble finish?

Standard plaster gives a smooth, uniform surface at a lower cost. Pebble finishes use exposed aggregate (small stones) for a textured, natural look that is more durable and resistant to staining. Pebble costs more upfront but typically lasts longer. The choice comes down to budget and aesthetics.

Can I just paint my pool instead of replastering?

If the existing plaster is still structurally sound with no major cracks or delamination, pool paint can be a cost-effective short-term solution. It typically lasts 3 to 5 years before needing another coat. If the plaster underneath is failing, paint will peel off quickly and you will need to replaster anyway.

What colours are available for pool finishes?

Cemcrete offers a wide range from classic white and sky blue to deeper tones like ocean blue, midnight, and charcoal. Darker finishes make the water look deeper and more dramatic. Lighter finishes keep the pool looking bright and traditional. We have physical colour swatches at our Roodepoort branch so you can see actual samples.
